Salvation Army Offers Free Childcare for First Responders and Healthcare Workers

Salvation Army ofrece cuidado de niños gratuito a personal de primeros auxilios y trabajadores de la salud

MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — First responders and healthcare workers will have a free childcare option starting on Monday.

In a press release Sunday night, the Salvation Army of Memphis & the Mid-South’s Kroc Center announced it will be offering three weeks of free childcare. This is only available for parents who are first responders and healthcare workers.

The Kroc Center is launching the Kroc Academy. It was recently approved by the Tennessee Department of Human Services to operate as an emergency childcare center during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Childcare will be offered weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for children between the ages 5 to 12. It will operate the weeks of April 20, April 27 and May 4. There will be 50 available spaces and parents must sign up weekly.

Daily activities will include educational time, physical activity, arts and crafts, swim time and learning games while social distancing practices are in place.

En un comunicado de prensa el domingo por la noche, Salvation Army de Memphis y el Centro Kroc del Medio Sur anunciaron que ofrecerá tres semanas de cuidado infantil gratuito. Esto solo está disponible para los padres que sean personal de emergencias y trabajadores de la salud.

El Centro Kroc está lanzando la Academia Kroc. Recientemente aprobado por el Departamento de Servicios Humanos de Tennessee para operar como un centro de atención infantil de emergencia durante la pandemia COVID-19.

Se ofrecerá cuidado de niños de lunes a viernes de 9 a.m. a 5 p.m. para niños entre las edades de 5 a 12 años. Funcionará las semanas del 20 de abril, 27 de abril y 4 de mayo. Habrá 50 espacios disponibles y los padres deben inscribirse semanalmente.

Las actividades diarias incluirán tiempo educativo, actividad física, artes y manualidades, tiempo para nadar y juegos de aprendizaje mientras se practiquen prácticas de distanciamiento social.
