Ledecka nears historic double-double Olympic success with snowboard victory

Beijing, Feb 8 (EFE).- The Czech Republic’s Ester Ledecka on Tuesday took a step closer to repeat her historic PyeongChang achievement by defending her snowboard parallel giant slalom gold medal at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

The 26-year-old made history four years ago by becoming the first woman to win gold medals in two different disciplines at the same Games when she triumphed in Alpine skiing Super G and snowboard parallel giant slalom.

The only woman competing in two different specialties in Beijing prevailed over Austria’s Daniela Ulbing and Slovenia’s Gloria Kotnik respectively to claim the title and keep her historic bid alive.

“It was fun, I was trying to be consistent and just staying in my line with what I was doing the whole day,” she said, according to Olympics media.

“I made a good job, I’m very proud of my team so thank you very much to them, especially Justin (Reiter) my American coach.

“They made an amazing job and I’m happy that I was able to finish like that,” she added. EFE
