Legendary dance duo Daft Punk call it quits after 28 years

Paris, Feb 22 (efe-epa).- Legendary French dance duo Daft Punk, creator of global hits such as One More Time and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, announced on Monday that they were separating after 28 years.

The announcement was made public through a video of almost eight minutes entitled Epilogue, which is an excerpt from their film Electroma and shows the two members of the duo in a deserted landscape. One of the members activates a ticking time bomb attached to the other’s back. It explodes after one minute.

Daft Punk, authors of songs like Around the world or Da funk, was formed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, but in their public appearances they hid their faces under futuristic robot helmets.

The two met at school in 1987 and before forming the band they had a rock group called Darling.

The band did not offer any specifics about their separation. Their representative, Kathryn Frazier, confirmed to the Parisian electronic music festival Pitchfork that they are no longer together, without offering any details either. EFE-EPA
