Suns to play NBA Finals after beating Clippers

Los Angeles, United States, Jun 30 (EFE).- The Phoenix Suns of Chris Paul and Devin Booker will play the NBA Finals after eliminating the Los Angeles Clippers 4-2 Wednesday.

The Suns will face the winners of the Eastern Conference final, played by the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks and who currently draw 2-2.

Phoenix, who have never won the NBA title, will play their first Finals since the 1992-1993 season, in they fell to Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls with Charles Barkley at the helm.

In the sixth game of the Western Conference final, the Suns beat some heroic Clippers (103-130) Wednesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, fighting to the last drop of sweat despite being without star Kawhi Leonard due to injury since mid-June.

Chris Paul, who played for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017, was clinical against his former team with an excellent performance of 41 points, eight assists and four rebounds.

The point guard was accompanied by Devin Booker, who had 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

For the Clippers, the most prominent was Marcus Morris with 26 points and nine rebounds.

With Devin Booker as a star and outside reference and Deandre Ayton as a beacon in the paint, the Suns signed veteran point guard Chris Paul this year to aim for the top in the playoffs.

They have also benefited from the valuable input of supporting players such as Jae Crowder and Cameron Payne.

The Monty Williams-led team eliminated LeBron James’ defending Los Angeles Lakers (4-1) in the first round and battered the Denver Nuggets in the Western semifinals (4-0.)

The Suns were the second best team in the entire league during the regular season with a balance of 51 wins and 21 losses and were only behind the Utah Jazz (52-20.) EFE
