Palestinian killed in West Bank clashes with Israeli security forces

Jerusalem, May 6 (EFE).- One Palestinian died Friday after being shot during clashes with  Israeli forces in the northern West Bank town of Beita.

Since May, there have been weekly protests on Friday against the establishment of a Jewish settlement, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the official news agency Wafa.

According to Wafa, despite the fact that the settlers left the settlement a month ago, Israel has kept the site under its control and does not allow Palestinians to access the land.

Since the demonstrations began three months ago, clashes with the Israeli armed forces have resulted in the deaths of some seven Palestinians shot dead, Wafa reports.

During Friday’s clashes, the Red Crescent emergency services also treated some 60 people for injuries of varying degrees, according to a statement.

The Israeli army, meanwhile, told Efe that Friday’s events occurred after about 700 Palestinians triggered riots, “burned tires” and “threw stones and Molotov cocktails at troops” and Border Police officers.

Israeli forces “responded with riot dispersal means,” including the use of live ammunition. EFE
