Baptist Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital Gets New Ekso GT Exoskeleton

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/localmemphis.com) — El jueves marcó la inauguración del primer exoesqueleto robótico del estado indicado específicamente para la rehabilitación de un accidente cerebrovascular y lesión de la médula espinal en Baptist Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital en Germantown.

El dispositivo portátil aumenta la fuerza para ayudar a los pacientes a pararse y volver a aprender a caminar, mientras gana confianza y libertad.

Baptist Memorial Hospital es la primera instalación en el estado que ofrece el dispositivo y planea usarlo para movilizar a los pacientes más temprano en su rehabilitación para obtener resultados óptimos.

Hillary Barrera, una paciente de 26 años de Grand Rapids Michigan y con lesión de médula espinal, estuvo presente para dar una demostración y compartir sus pensamientos sobre el Ekso GT.

“Primero probé el exo en una demostración como esta. Pude participar como paciente e inmediatamente cambió mi postura y la forma en que caminaba”, dijo Barrera.

El traje de exoesqueleto Ekso GT ya está en funcionamiento y actualmente se está implementando en la atención hospitalaria en Baptist Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital en Germantown para pacientes calificados.

MEMPHIS, Tenn (localmemphis.com) – Thursday marked the unveiling of the state’s very first robotic exoskeleton indicated specifically for stroke and spinal cord injury rehabilitation at Baptist Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital in Germantown.

The wearable device augments strength to help patients stand and relearn to walk, while gaining confidence and freedom.

Baptist Memorial hospital is the first facility in the state to offer the device and plans to use it to mobilize patients earlier in their rehabilitation for optimal outcomes.

Hillary Barrera, a 26 year old from Grand Rapids Michigan and spinal cord injury patient, was on hand to give a demonstration and share her thoughts on the Ekso GT.

“I first tried the exo at a demonstration like this. I was able to participate as a patient and it immediately changed my posture and the way that I walked,” said Barrera.

The Ekso GT exoskeleton suit is operational and is currently being implemented into in-patient care at Baptist Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital in Germantown for qualifying patients.
