Paris, Aug 10 (EFE).- The Argentine star Lionel Messi on Tuesday arrived in Paris ahead of his highly anticipated move to Paris Saint German.

A large number of journalists and fans welcomed Messi at the Paris–Le Bourget Airport chanting “Here is Paris”.

Clad in a white T-shirt that reads “Here is Paris”, Messi greeted the euphoric fans waiting for him at the airport shouting “Messi, Messi”.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner was accompanied by his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, children Thiago, Mateo and Cio, personal assistant and former head of the Barcelona Player Service Office Pepe Costa, and his father and agent, Jorge Messi.

PSG’s Brazilian forward Neymar, his former Barcelona teammate, welcomed Messi in the French capital via an Instagram story that read “back together”.

The story included a video of both players celebrating while at Barcelona, which the Brazilian star left four years ago.

PSG, meanwhile, posted on their Twitter account a short video featuring six Ballon d’Or awards and Eiffel Tower in the background.

The French club announced a press conference is to be held on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes stadium at am GMT, without directly referring to Messi.

Although the tweet does not mention Messi, the number of Ballon d’Or awards implies that it is about him.

Earlier in the day, Jorge Messi confirmed the former Barça forward will transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the coming season.

On his arrival at Barcelona airport, Jorge Messi answered a concise “yes” to journalists asking if his son would sign with the Parisian team on Tuesday.

Messi reached an agreement to join PSG for two years with the option for a third season, according to French media L’Equipe. EFE
