South Korean aerospace company to launch satellite with SpaceX in 2025

Tokyo, Dec 1 (EFE).- Aerospace company Korea Aerospace Industries announced Friday the signing of an agreement with SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, to launch a new generation medium satellite in 2025 that would be used for state missions.

This is the first time the South Korean government transfers public satellite technology to the private sector, within the framework of the “Next Generation Medium Satellite” project, which seeks to promote the space industry in the country.

This is the second agreement between the company and SpaceX; They signed the first in 2021 and agreed to put another new generation medium satellite into orbit, whose launch it said was delayed, among other factors, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The company plans to launch both satellites into space aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket for public projects such as Earth resource management and disaster response, among others. EFE
