Lukoil chairman plunges to death from Moscow hospital window: reports

Moscow, Sep 1 (EFE).- The chairman of Russian oil giant Lukoil, Ravi Maganov, died on Thursday after falling from the window of a Moscow hospital, Russian news agencies reported.

The Interfax news agency cited an “informed source” as saying Maganov had fallen from a window at the Central Clinical Hospital in the Russian capital while state-owned agency TASS reported the cause of death as suicide.

TASS added that Maganov had been receiving treatment for a heart attack and had been prescribed antidepressants.

Following the media reports, Lukoil said in a statement that Maganov had died “after a serious illness.”

It added that he had made an “invaluable” contribution to the company and Russia’s gas and oil industry.

Maganov, 67, had held several Lukoil posts since 1993. He became chairman in 2020. EFE
