LeBron James becomes top scorer in NBA history

Los Angeles, Feb 8 (EFE).- LeBron James has made history by becoming the NBA’s all-time top scorer.

The Los Angeles Lakers player needed 36 points to break the previous record of 38,387 set by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and on Tuesday managed to bag 38 in the Lakers’ defeat to Oklahoma City Thunder.

It is another accolade to add to an astonishing career. In 20 NBA seasons, LeBron, 38, has won four championships (2012, 2013, 2016 and 2020) and four MVP awards (2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013).

The NBA star clinched his latest record with a fadeaway in the third quarter against the Thunder to the rapturous celebration from the Lakers fans.

Abdul-Jabbar, 75, was in the crowd Tuesday to witness Lebron seal his 38,388th career point. LeBron finished the encounter with a total of 38,390.

“I don’t think it has hit me,” LeBron told reporters after the game. “I had a moment when it happened, and embracing that moment and seeing my family and my friends and people who have been around me since I started this journey, even before the NBA”

“As much as I try to live in the moment it was kind of a blur,” he added. EFE
