9 killed by Russian shelling in Ukraine’s Kharkiv

Kyiv, Apr 18 (EFE).- At least nine people have been killed and 25 injured by Russian bombing in the northeastern Ukrainian region of Kharkiv over the past day, the regional military administration said Monday.

The press service of the military administration told the Interfax-Ukraine news agency that six people were killed by shelling that hit residential areas of the city, including in central Kharkiv, while two were killed in the suburb of Derhachiv and one in Zolochiv.

Russia’s military has concentrated its efforts around eastern Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city.

Although troops have regrouped in the east, where Ukrainian forces are braced for a large-scale offensive, Russia’s military on Monday also bombed the city of Lviv, in western Ukraine, near the Polish border.

Lviv’s mayor Andriy Sadovyi said 11 people, including one child, were killed in the attack against a civilian target. EFE
