Man Arrested After Allegedly Carjacking Off-Duty MPD Officer

MEMPHIS, TN (FOX News) — Less than two days after an off-duty Memphis Police officer was carjacked, a man was arrested for that crime and others.

FOX13 was the first to report on Friday that an off-duty MPD officer was carjacked overnight on Myrna Lane, the officer’s 2017 white Chevy Malibu stolen along with police equipment.

On Saturday, police arrested 21-year-old Arnold Rubi for the crime.

According to a police affidavit, Rubi and an forced a man out of his 2017 white Chevy Malibu on Myrna Lane.

Sources confirm to FOX13′s Jeremy Pierre that the victim is a Memphis Police officer who was off-duty at the time of the carjacking.

Along with his car, police said that Rubi and an accomplice stole the officer’s wallet at gunpoint before taking off in his Malibu.

The next day, a man reported being run off the road by a white Chevy Malibu with two men inside at the intersection of Lamar Ave. and Holmes Rd.

After being run off the road, the potential carjackers ordered the victim out of his 2006 Ford Mustang and stole cash from his pocket, but could not get the Mustang in gear to take off, according to police.

Later that day, Memphis Police found Rubi in possession of the officer’s Chevy Malibu, according to the affidavit.

Police said that Rubi admitted to carjacking and robbing a man on Myrna Lane and told police that his accomplice tried to steal the car at Lamar and Holmes.

La policía dijo que Rubi admitió haber robado a un hombre en Myrna Lane y le dijo a la policía que su cómplice trató de robar otro auto en Lamar y Holmes.
