Man U claim derby victory with 2-1 win over Haaland’s City

Sports Desk, Jan 14 (EFE).- Manchester United clinched a hard-earned 2-1 win over cross-city rivals Manchester City on Saturday thanks to goals from captain Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Manchester City’s Jack Grealish opened the scoring on the hour mark with a header from Kevin de Bruyne’s cross following a period of dominance from Pep Guardiola’s men.

Portugal midfielder Fernandes leveled the playing field in the 78th minute collecting a through ball from Casemiro. The goal was initially ruled offside due to Rashford’s mistimed run beyond the defensive line but was awarded following a review that showed he did not touch the ball.

Just four minutes later, Rashford jumped on Alejandro Garnacho’s square ball in front of goal to clinch the three points for United at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils dealt a blow to City’s title hopes with league leaders Arsenal still to play. EFE
