Manchester United to sign Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez
London, Jul 17 (EFE).- Lisandro Martinez is set to join Manchester United during the summer transfer window from Ajax, both clubs announced on Sunday.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Argentine international defender Lisandro Martinez, subject to medical, to player terms being finalised, and to UK visa requirements,” the Premier League club said in a brief statement.
The Red Devils did not provide further details on the transfer of the 24-year-old, who had three more years left in his contract with the Dutch club.
“Ajax agreed a transfer fee of €57.37 million with the English side. That amount can increase to € 67.37 million through variables,” Ajax said in a statement.
The Argentine player, who made his professional debut in 2017 with Newell’s Old Boys, joined Ajax in 2019 on a transfer from Defensa y Justicia.
Since then, he helped Ajax win two Dutch Leagues and one Dutch Cup. He also was part of the Argentina team that won the 2021 Copa America.
Martínez is United’s third signing of this summer market following Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia. EFE
