Mank leads the way with 10 Oscar nominations
Los Angeles, Mar 15 (efe-epa).- Mank, directed by David Fincher, scored 10 Oscar nominations on Monday and two women, Chloé Zao and Emerald Fennell, were nominated for Best Director for the first time.
The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal and The Trial of the Chicago 7 scored six nominations apiece.
The nominees for best picture are Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, The Father and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman), Frances McDormand (Nomadland), Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman) and Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday) were nominated for best actress.
Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Gary Oldman (Mank) and Steven Yeun (Minari) were chosen as candidates for best actor.
The nominees for best director are Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), David Fincher (Mank), Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) and Thomas Vinterberg (Another Round). Only one woman in Oscars history won this award: Kathryn Bigelow in 2010 (The Hurt Locker)
Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy), Olivia Colman (The Father), Amanda Seyfried (Mank) and Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari) are the nominees for best supporting actress.
And Sacha Baron Cohen (The Trial of the Chicago 7), Leslie Odom Jr. (One Night in Miami), Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), Paul Raci (Sound of Metal) and LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah) got best supporting actor nods. EFE-EPA
