Santander, Spain, Aug 6 (efe-epa).- Former middleweight boxing champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez is preparing to return to the ring on 21 August.
The Argentine fighter, who has been out of the sport for six years, has been training in Torrelavega, northern Spain, where his comeback will be staged.
Martínez, who has a professional record of 51 victories, 28 KO and two defeats, will face Spaniard José Miguel “El Traumatologo” Fandiño.
The contest will be played out over 10 rounds in the middleweight category.
Martínez, 45, is already in the Spanish city training with his coach Tinín Rodríguez at the Kronk Gymnasium, center of operations for current European super welterweight champion Sergio Garcia.
The Spanish fighter will also be part of the evening along with Nicaraguan Pablo Mendoza, also in the middleweight class.
They will be joined by Ecuadorian-born German fighter Jack Culcay, who will compete in another event on 28 August. EFE-EPA
