MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Hace 83 años el mundo le dio la bienvenida a uno de los íconos más grandes del mundo de la música, el entretenimiento y hasta de la moda: Elvis Aaron Presley.Para celebrar el cumpleaños del “Rey del rock and roll”, así como su legado, Graceland ha preparado una serie de eventos a los cuales se espera que asistan miles de personas, tanto de Memphis como de otras ciudades y/o países. Y es que el impacto que Elvis ha generado en la vida de millones de fans ha sido tal, que aún después de muerto lo siguen idolatrando.
Como evento principal, la “Ceremonia de Proclamación del Cumpleaños de Elvis Presley” será realizada el lunes, 8 de enero, a las 9:30 AM (Hora Centro) en el jardín norte de la mansión de Graceland. Después de la proclamación, se cortará un gran pastel en honor a Elvis, y luego, a las 10:30 AM, será servido con café a todos los presentes en el restaurante Vernon’s Smokehouse, ubicado enfrente de la mansión, en el nuevo Elvis Presley’s Memphis.

La Subasta en Graceland
Fanáticos y coleccionistas de todo el mundo tendrán la oportunidad de participar en esta subasta, ya sea en el sitio o en internet. Se subastarán solamente artefactos autenticados por Graceland. Todos los artículos en la subasta serán ofrecidos por otros coleccionistas, y no procederán de los archivos atesorados de Graceland. Graceland Evening Tour and Reception at Elvis Presley’s Memphis

Let’s keep in mind that Elvis has made a huge impact on the lives of millions of fans, that they still idolize him even after his death.
Being the main event, the “Elvis Presley’s Birthday Proclamation Ceremony” will be held on Monday, January 8, at 9:30 AM (Central Time) in Graceland’s North Lawn. After the proclamation, a big birthday cake will be cut in honor of Elvis, and served at 10:30 AM with coffee to everyone at the Vernon’s Smokehouse restaurant, located across the street from the mansion, at the new Elvis Presley’s Memphis.

The Auction at Graceland
Fans and collectors from around the world will have the opportunity to participate in this auction, either on-site or online. Only artifacts authenticated by Graceland will be featured. All items in the auction will be offered by third-party collectors, and will not come from Graceland’s treasured archives. The mansion and all artifacts included in the Graceland Archives continue to be owned by Lisa Marie Presley and are not for sale.
To participate, you must register at GracelandAuctions.com. The auction will be held at 12:30 PM in the Guest House Theater, at The Guest House at Graceland.
Elvis’ Memphis Featuring Terry Mike Jeffrey and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra
Terry Mike Jeffrey joins the Memphis Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the legacy that Elvis left in music. This event will be held at 7:30 PM at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, located at 255 N. Main Street.

At 2 PM, also at the Guest House Theater, there will be a special presentation with Tim Brown and Angie Marchese, Director of Archives, where the audience will be able to see some of the most treasured pieces from the Graceland Archives. This is a free event.

This special event, which includes a private evening tour of the Graceland Mansion and a reception at Elvis Presley’s Memphis, will be from 6 PM to 9 PM. Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on Jan. 8, 1935, and moved to Memphis with his parents at age 13. He was 42 when he died Aug. 16, 1977.
Elvis recorded his first song “That’s All Right” at Sun Studio in Memphis in 1954 and made the West Tennessee city his primary home until his death.
Elvis would have been 83 years old this month.
