Mexican pop icon Paulina Rubio releases new single ‘Yo Soy’

Miami, US, Oct 28 (EFE).- Mexican pop star Paulina Rubio presented her new single and video “Yo soy” in Miami on Thursday.

In front of the media and a select group of fans, the artist said that the single reflects the best version of herself.

“I want to be my best version, I want to forgive people who I didn’t forgive and I want to free myself from many chains that prevent me from following my path,” Rubio, known as the “Golden Girl,” told reporters.

The 50-year-old, who is one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all-time, was enthusiastic about her plans for the future, which include a tour, as well as a new album and possibly new love.

“The story goes more or less like this…,” said the singer, presenter, businesswoman and actress with a career spanning four decades, before performing her new song.

Rubio also sang “Yo No Soy Sa Mujer,” one of the biggest hits of her career.

She said that she was a renewed “woman, mother, friend” and eager to share her music, adding that she is working on many things simultaneously.

Rubio’s new song, which she described as a call to empower women based on her own experiences, is produced by Andrés Castro, winner of two Grammy Awards and 13 Latin Grammy Awards.

“Yo Soy,” full of lines such as “I am what I want to be, without pretending” and “No one breaks me, no one controls me, because I am always the queen” is dedicated to women — queens — according to Rubio.

In September, the singer was crowned Golden Queen at the Miami Beach Pride, where she announced the upcoming release of her single. EFE
