Michelle Yeoh, Chadwick Boseman among Hollywood Walk of Fame star honorees

Los Angeles, US, Jun 26 (EFE).- Malaysian Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh and late American “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman are among the celebrities set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Monday announced more than 30 entertainers who will each be given a star on the famous Los Angeles boulevard next year.

“We can’t wait to see each honoree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway,” said Chair and Walk of Famer Ellen K.

The selection was made by the Walk of Fame Selection Committee and includes personalities from various entertainment fields.

Boseman, who died of cancer at age 43 in August 2020, will receive a posthumous star, as will the singer and songwriter nicknamed the “King of Soul,” Otis Redding, who died in 1967.

Others to be awarded stars in the Motion Pictures category include Gal Gadot, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine and Christina Ricci.

In the Recording category, some of those selected were singer Gwen Stefani, known for her solo career and also as the lead singer of No Doubt, the British rock band Def Leppard, rapper Dr. Dre, and singer Toni Braxton, famous for hit “Un-Break My Heart,” among others.

Television honorees include Kerry Washington from “Scandal,” Ken Jeong from “The Hangover” franchise and “Crazy Rich Asians,” and Eugene Levy of “Schitt’s Creek” and “American Pie” fame.

In the Sports section, the organization will recognize American former world No. 1 tennis player Billie Jean King and former soccer player Carl Weathers.

Other honorees will include composer Charles Fox, Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, R&B singer Brandy Norwood, and more.

The dates on which each of the stars will be awarded will be announced on the official website of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. EFE
