Nketiah saves Arsenal in 1-1 draw against Fulham

Sports Desk, Apr 18 (EFE).- A late goal from Edward Nketiah secured Arsenal a 1-1 draw against Fulham, thus dealing a blow to the visitors’ hopes of avoiding relegation.

Dani Ceballos, who was in the starting lineup, was denied what could have been his first Premier League tally with five minutes left when he headed one into the twine but the referee ruled it out after consulting the VAR.

The video assistant referee confirmed that Bukayo Saka was offside in the play that ended with the Spaniard’s goal.

The VAR stepped in once more to confirm a penalty kick awarded to Fulham after a challenge from Gabriel Magalhaes against Mario Lemina and Josh Maja delivered from the 12-yard spot.

Fulham held their lead until the dying minutes when Nketiah seized a loose ball inside the area to bring his team level seven minutes into stoppage time.

With the draw, Arsenal is in the ninth spot in the Premier League table with 46 points, while Fulham are 18th with 27 points, six away from salvation.
