MLGW to Perform Maintenance Involving Natural Gas

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/MLGW) — MLGW realizará un mantenimiento de rutina en una tubería de gas al norte de las avenidas Southern y East Parkway.

Este trabajo planificado requerirá que se expulse algo de gas natural a la atmósfera para purgar la línea.

El trabajo de rutina ocurrirá entre 9 a.m. y mediodía del martes 28 de agosto y el miércoles 29 de agosto.

Esta liberación controlada y temporal de gas natural no es el resultado de ningún tipo de falla del sistema y no representa una amenaza para quienes se encuentran cerca del lugar de trabajo.

El público en las áreas circundantes puede oler el mercaptano en el aire. Este es el olor químico que MLGW agrega al gas natural para darle el olor a huevo podrido / azufre, por lo que se puede detectar fácilmente.

Dependiendo de las condiciones del viento / clima, los residentes y las empresas en diversas áreas podrían oler este olor fuerte y sulfúrico en las dos fechas indicadas anteriormente.

MEMPHIS, TN (MLGW) — MLGW will be performing routine maintenance on a gas main just north of Southern and just

east of East Parkway. This planned work will require some natural gas to be vented to the atmosphere to purge the line.

This routine work will occur between 9 a. m. and noon on Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 29.

This controlled, temporary release of natural gas is not a result of any type of system failure and does not pose a threat to those in close proximity of the work location.

The public in the surrounding areas may smell the mercaptan in the air. This is the chemical odorant that MLGW adds to natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected.

Depending on the wind/weather conditions, residents and businesses in various areas could smell this strong, sulfuric odor on both dates given above.
