MLGW Will Replace 77,000 Street Lamps

MEMPHIS, TN (MLGW) — Memphis Light, Gas and Water in replacing all 77,000 old and outdated streetlights. The new streetlights will provide brighter light making available better security throughout Memphis along with assisting with driving conditions at night and during inclement weather. The project which began in January 2023 is well on target to be completed by December 31, 2023. The life of the new LED lights is much longer than the old lights. The new lighting system is now being set up to be monitored by MLGW for outages rather than depend on MLGW customers to report each individual streetlight that malfunctions.
