Modric extends his Real Madrid contract until 2023

Madrid, Jun 8 (EFE).- Luka Modric extended his Real Madrid contract by one year until the end of next season, the Spanish powerhouse announced on Wednesday.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Luka Modrić have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract until 30 June 2023,” Real Madrid said in a statement.

Both parties had reached a verbal agreement to renew the Croatian international’s contract over the winter break. It had been due to expire this summer.

The 36-year-old midfielder joined Real Madrid in 2012 on a transfer from Tottenham Hotspur for 35 million euros.

Since then, Modric has played 436 games and helped the Merengue win 20 titles, including five Champions Leagues, three LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey, four Spanish Super Cups, three European Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cups. EFE
