Zelenskyy says Ukraine troops advancing in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv

Kyiv, Jun 10 (EFE).- Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday his army is making progress in some of the areas occupied by Russian forces, such as Zaporizhzhia in the south, and Kharkiv in the northeast.

In one of his nightly televised messages, the Ukrainian president confirmed that in the strategic enclave of Severodonetsk on the eastern front line, “the situation has not changed much”, with sustained heavy attacks by the Russians.

“We have certain positive things in the Zaporizhzhia region, where we manage to thwart the plans of the occupiers,” Zelenskyy said.

Zaporizhzhia is home to Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, which is currently occupied by Moscow.

“We are gradually moving forward in the Kharkiv region, liberating our land. We are keeping defense in the Mykolaiv direction,” the Ukrainian president added.

He also spoke about the damage caused by Russian attacks on strategic Ukrainian infrastructures such as highways, bridges and TV antennas, confirming the “restoration of TV broadcasting in Kharkiv a day after the shelling” it suffered.

“Hitting television centers, destroying communication channels, leaving people isolated is a tactic of the occupiers, without which they really cannot (succeed),” Zelenskyy said. EFE
