Ukrainian grain tycoon killed in Russian bombing

Lviv, Ukraine, Jul 31 (EFE).- One of Ukraine’s richest men, agriculture tycoon Oleksiy Vadatursky, and his wife Raisa were killed when a Russian missile struck their home in Mykolaiv, southern Ukraine, government authorities confirmed Sunday.

Vadatursky was targeted in a deliberate and well-organized attack by Russia, Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, claimed in a Telegram statement.

The tycoon, the owner of grain export company Nibulon, was a prominent figure in Mykolaiv, located to the north of Kherson, a territory currently controlled by Russia’s invading forces.

He and his wife died when the shelling hit his apartment in the early hours of Sunday morning, Ukrainian authorities said.

Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Vadatursky and Raisa in a statement shared by his office.

Vadatursky’s career earned him presidential recognition as a Hero of Ukraine, the highest civilian title in the country. EFE
