Madrid, Mar 24 (EFE).- One of the most watched and successful Netflix shows in history, Bridgerton returns Friday with a new love story set in the lavish London high society of the 19th century.
Fans will have to leave the first season’s love story between Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings behind to dive into the adventures of Bridgerton family first-born, Viscount Anthony.
“There are always different ways in which people fall in love,” British actor, Jonathan Bailey, who plays the role of Anthony, told Efe.
“What is brilliant about this is that this is only the second chapter of hopefully eight Bridgerton love stories, (…) it is a really unique thing to be a part of,” he said, adding that he hoped fans would enjoy the new season as much as they did the first.
This season will also see new characters, sisters Kate Sharma and Edwina Sharma who arrive in London from India in search of the perfect husband.
“It can be really daunting joining such a successful show, you feel like new kids at school, but we were lucky enough to come as a unit,” British actress Charithra Chandran, who is of Indian descent and takes on the role of Edwina, said.
“We were thrilled to meet them and have them because it brings new life to the show,” Bailey, whose character Anthony is looking for the perfect wife, said.
“It is complicated and a different type of love story,” he said referring to the love story fans are about to witness.
The Netflix show, created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, hit over 625 million hours of viewing in its first 28 days on air, becoming the most watched English-language production in the history of the platform.
“The nature of the show, what it did at a time when everyone was in lockdown, was extraordinary,” said Bailey.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.” EFE
