Mother, daughter, 14-year-olds arrested after string of robberies

MEMPHIS, TN (MPD) — On August 7, 2022, at 2:00 pm, officers responded to a shooting at 1747 Morlye Street. Officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm. Officers were advised that the victim was in the laundry mat when a male and female entered. Both suspects pointed guns at him and demanded money. The female then fired a shot hitting the victim. The suspects took his phone and fled in a gray four-door sedan.

On August 9, 2022, at 5:50 pm, officers responded to a robbery at 3651 Rhodes Avenue. Officers were advised the victim was in the area of Getwell Road and Barron Road when a black newer model sedan drove past him twice. A male and female got out of the vehicle and approached him. The male walked beside him and demanded his money while the female pointed a gun at him. The suspects took his phone and wallet.

On August 10, 2022, at 5:25 pm, officers responded to a robbery at 1440 Getwell Road. Officers advised that two males approached the victim as he walked home. One of the suspects was armed with a gun and demanded the victim’s property, or he would shoot. The victim ran away to a nearby gas station, and the suspects fled westbound toward Kimball Avenue.

On August 10, 2022, at 5:28 pm, officers responded to a robbery in the 1400 Block of Maxine Street. Officers were advised that the victim was approached by two males while in his driveway. The males demanded his property, took his phone, and then ran southbound towards Dunn Avenue. The victim advised that the suspects fled in a black Hyundai Sonata and provided the tag. Officers on the scene relaid this information to officers in the area. Officers were also informed that the two males ran from the car and jumped into the canal near the Cherry Apartments. Mount Moriah officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop at Getwell Road near Mallory Road. The vehicle went westbound on Interstate 240. The car exited onto Prescott and rear-ended a pickup truck. The driver, suspect Abrianna Taylor, was arrested. Mount Moriah task force officers responded to a suspicious call at 6:08 pm at Cherry Road and Boyce Road. Officers located the two males who ran and were arrested after a foot chase. Both suspects were juveniles, and one was armed with a handgun when he was arrested.

The three suspects were taken to Mount Moriah Station. Investigators determined that a fourth suspect was involved in the robberies on August 10, 2022. The suspect was Lashuna Taylor, the mother of Abrianna Taylor. Lashuna was determined to be the driver of the Sonata when the robberies were committed.

Lashuna Taylor, 41, was charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Child Abuse and Child Neglect or Endangerment, and Driving while License Suspended/Cancelled/Revoked.

Abrianna Taylor, 19, was charged with Especially Aggravated Robbery, Providing a Handgun to a Juvenile, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Facilitation of Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, Facilitation of Aggravated Robbery, and Intentionally Evading Arrest in an Automobile.

A 14-year-old male juvenile was charged with Attempted Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile, and Evading Arrest on Foot. Additional charges of Aggravated Robbery (2X) and Especially Aggravated were added on August 11, 2022.

This is still an ongoing investigation. The suspects are believed to be also responsible for some of our Hispanic Community’s unreported robberies. The Memphis Police Department urges all citizens to contact police if they are the victim of a crime.
