Musical de Emilio y Gloria Estefan será parte de la temporada 2018-2019 de Broadway en el Teatro Orpheum

 

The Emilio and Gloria Estefan Musical to Be Part of the Orpheum Theatre’s 2018-2019 Broadway Season

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Increíble pero cierto, el exitoso musical “On Your Feet” de Emilio y Gloria Estefan será parte de la temporada de Broadway 2018-2019 en el Teatro Orpheum de Memphis, una que será recordada por muchos como una de las mejores, ya que también incluye el aclamado musical de “Hamilton”, además de “Anastasia”, “School of Rock”, “Love Never Dies”, “Waitress”, “Les Misérables” y “Fiddler on the Roof”. Seis de estos musicales serán presentados en Memphis por primera vez.

“Con seis éxitos nuevos, que vienen directamente desde Broadway y el West End de Londres, y dos clásicos que regresan, no podría estar más orgulloso de esta temporada que será increíble”, dijo Brett Batterson, presidente y CEO del Orpheum Theatre Group. “¡Tiene algo para cada fanático de Broadway!”, agregó.

La próxima temporada de Broadway en el Orpheum comenzará en septiembre con “Love Never Dies” (“El Amor Nunca Muere”), una secuela del fascinante musical “The Phantom of the Opera” (“El Fantasma de la Ópera”), de Andrew Lloyd Webber. En dicha obra, el Fantasma reaparece después de diez años de ausencia, pero esta vez en Nueva York, en donde encontrará el lugar perfecto para compartir su música. Sin embargo, él nunca ha dejado de extrañar a su amor verdadero y quien fuera su protegida, Christine Daaé. “Love Never Dies” será presentado del 4 al 9 de septiembre del 2018.

Luego sigue “School of Rock”, un musical nuevo, divertido y lleno de mucha energía. Basado en la película del mismo nombre, este musical cuenta la historia de Dewey Finn, un hombre que aspira ser una estrella de rock pero que se convierte en un maestro sustituto y transforma a sus pequeños alumnos en excelentes roqueros. “School of Rock” tendrá funciones del 9 al 14 de octubre del 2018.

A continuación viene “Waitress”, un musical inspirado en la película de Adrienne Shelly, también del mismo nombre. “Waitress” cuenta la historia de Jenna, una mesera y experta en pasteles (pies, en inglés), que sueña con salir de su pequeño pueblo y terminar con un matrimonio sin amor. Un concurso de repostería en un condado cercano y el nuevo médico del pueblo pueden ofrecerle una oportunidad para tener un nuevo comienzo, mientras que sus compañeras en el restaurante le ofrecen sus propias recetas para la felicidad. Sin embargo, Jenna debe reunir la fuerza y el valor para reconstruir su propia vida. El musical de “Waitress” será presentado del 15 al 20 de enero del 2019.

Y ahora prepárense, porque llega “On Your Feet”, un musical que pondrá a bailar a cualquiera, sea latino o no.

“On Your Feet!” cuenta la historia de Emilio y Gloria Estefan, quienes, desde sus humildes comienzos en Cuba, llegaron a los Estados Unidos y rompieron todas las barreras para convertirse en una sensación internacional en el mundo de la música pop. “On Your Feet!” estará en Memphis del 12 al 17 de febrero del 2019.

Más adelante vendrá “Anastasia”, un musical completamente nuevo que cuenta la historia de una joven que se embarca en la aventura de su vida para poder descubrir el misterio de su pasado. “Anastasia” tendrá presentaciones del 4 al 9 de junio del 2019.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Believe or not!, the hit musical “On Your Feet” which tells the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan will be part of the 2018-2019 Broadway season at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis; a season that will be remembered by many as one of the best, as it also includes the acclaimed musical “Hamilton,” along with “Anastasia,” “School of Rock,” “Love Never Dies,” “Waitress,” “Les Misérables,” and “Fiddler on the Roof.” Six of these musicals will be presented in Memphis for the first time.

“With six new hits straight from Broadway and London’s West End and two returning classics, I could not be prouder of this incredible season,” said Brett Batterson, President & CEO of the Orpheum Theatre Group. “It has something for every Broadway fan!”

The next Broadway season at the Orpheum will begin in September with “Love Never Dies,” a sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s spellbinding musical “The Phantom of the Opera.” In this story, the Phantom reappears after ten years of absence, but this time he is in New York, where he will find the perfect place for his music to soar. However, he has never stopped yearning for his true love and musical protégée, Christine Daaé. “Love Never Dies” will have performances in Memphis from September 4 to September 9, 2018.

Following is “School of Rock”, a new musical that is fun and full of energy. Based on the film with the same title, this musical tells the story of Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star that becomes a substitute teacher and transforms his little students into excellent rockers. “School of Rock” will be in Memphis from October 9 to October 14, 2018.

Next is “Waitress,” a musical inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s film – also with the same title. It tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and an expert pie maker, who dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her an opportunity to get a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer her their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life. “Waitress” will be in town from January 15 to January 20, 2019.

And now get ready, because “On Your Feet” arrives at the Orpheum and it promises to make everybody dance, no matter if you are Latino or not.

“On Your Feet!” tells the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, who, from their humble beginnings in Cuba, came to the United States and broke all barriers to become an international sensation in the world of pop music. It was also thanks to these two great artists that other Latin singers have been able to make their crossover and acquire fame in the American market.

“On Your Feet!” features some of the most iconic songs by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, such as “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,” “Conga,” “Get on Your Feet,” “Don’t Want to Lose You,” “1-2-3,” and “Coming Out of the Dark.” Under the direction of the two-time Tony Award® winner, Jerry Mitchell (“Kinky Boots”), with choreography by Sergio Trujillo (“Jersey Boys”), a four-time Drama Desk nominee, and with an original book by Academy Award® winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman), “On Your Feet!” has been distinguished as one of the most inspiring stories of our times.

“On Your Feet!” will be in Memphis from February 12 to February 17, 2019.

Then, you will be able to see “Anastasia,” a completely new musical that tells the story of a young girl who embarks on the adventure of her life to discover the mystery of her past. “Anastasia” will be in Memphis from June 4 to June 9, 2019.

And the wait for many ends, as one of the biggest box office musicals of recent years arrives in Memphis for three weeks of presentations: “Hamilton,” the story of one of the founding fathers of the United States, Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and who was the nation’s first Treasury Secretary. With lyrics, music and script by Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Hamilton” made its big Broadway debut in February 2015 and will be in Memphis from July 9 to July 28, 2019.

The classic musical of “Les Misérables” will be in Memphis from November 27 to December 2, 2018, while “Fiddler on the Roof” will bring its tour to the city from March 19 to March 24, 2019.
