PSG deny reports of Mbappé’s eye-watering salary

Paris, Oct 24 (EFE).- Paris Saint-Germain on Monday denied media reports that its star player Kylian Mbappé’s contract was worth up to 630 million euros over three years.

“After the sensationalist article published yesterday about the club and one of its players, Paris Saint-Germain denies the alleged story and the details included in it,” a club source told Efe.

The source added that they were “surprised” that the article had been published hours ahead of an “important” Champions League game against Maccabi Haifa on Tuesday.

French newspaper Le Parisien caused a stir in the football world Sunday when it published allegedly leaked details about Mbappé’s eye-watering salary at the Ligue 1 side.

It alleged that the France star was set to earn more than 630 million euros gross in the three years since he agreed to extend his stay with PSG in May this year after being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

The sum is made up of an incremental salary and a signing bonus of 180 million euros split into three payments, the newspaper claimed.

Such an eye-watering salary would make him the highest paid football player in history, ahead of Lionel Messi’s 555-million-euro Barcelona contract in 2017 and Neymar’s 267-million-euro contract with PSG that same year.

The alleged salary leak came after news reports emerged claiming that Mbappé was no longer happy at PSG. EFE
