Tom Hardy confident second Venom movie “much better” than first

London, Oct 12 (EFE).- British actor Tom Hardy says the second chapter of the Marvel saga ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ is much better than the first as he returns to the big screen in the role of journalist Eddie Brock and supervillain Venom.

“I think this movie certainly has pushed further, taking full reflection on what the response was from the first movie (…) I think it is a much better movie than the first,” he told Efe in an exclusive interview.

Despite the first ‘Venom’ movie released in 2018 receiving bad reviews from critics, Hardy is proud of this new film.

“There is a lot of love involved and care involved, irrespective of whether people subjectively liked it or disliked it, so we had to look at it and go, what is it that we loved about the first one and

what do we have to invest in now which is good,” he said.

Inspired by Spanish novelist Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote, the movie directed by Andy Serkis reminds viewers of characters Quixote and Sancho that Hardy says share the same essence of Eddie and Venom.

Venom is a black, viscous extraterrestrial parasite — known in the Marvel universe as a ‘symbiote’ — that ‘hosts’ in other beings. After arriving on Earth during an alien attack and being captured by scientists to be researched, he fuses with the body of reporter Eddie Brock during one of his investigations.

Hardy said he was “really proud of it and Andy’s vision of the movie and the team that collaborated on it.”

“I think any experience where you are set to do a task which is ambitious and involves a collaboration and an ensemble of very different people who do very different things, communication is absolutely key, you are going to learn an awful lot.

‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ will be released in theatres across Spain Friday.
