Cristiano on exit rumors: ‘They know truth in a couple of weeks’

Madrid, Aug 17 (EFE).- Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday broke his silence after weeks of media speculation about his Manchester United future saying that “the truth” will be revealed in an interview within “weeks.”

“They know the truth when they interview in a couple of weeks,” the Portuguese star commented in a post on a fans’ Instagram account.

“The media is telling lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made only 5 were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip,” he added.

Cristiano has reportedly been linked to a move away from Old Trafford against the club’s wishes.

According to reports, the services of the 37-year-old have been offered to and turned down by several European clubs.

The Portuguese striker returned to Manchester United, where he first played between 2003 and 2009, a year ago after leaving Juventus.

His return, however, did not live up to expectations as the Red Devils did not qualify for the Champions League, finishing sixth in the Premier League.

In a bid to reverse the situation, United hired coach Erik Ten Hag this summer. Under the Dutchman, Cristiano started their Premier League opener against Brighton from the bench.

Although he was in the starting lineup against Brentford, Manchester United lost 4-0 and sit bottom of the table after two consecutive defeats. EFE
