Blinken, Kuleba discuss ways to release Ukraine grain exports
Berlin, May 15 (EFE).- Foreign ministers from the United States and Ukraine met in Berlin Sunday to discuss solutions to Russia’s blockade of Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Ukrainian Minister Dmytro Kuleba met before an informal meeting of Nato foreign ministers taking place in the German capital.
Blinken and Kuleba “discussed the impact of Russia’s brutal war, including on global food security, and committed to seeking a solution to export Ukraine’s grain to international markets,” according to a statement from Blinken’s spokesman, Ned Price.
In addition, the two discussed “the latest tranche of US security assistance to bolster Ukraine’s defenses.”
Price added that Blinken conveyed to Kuleba Washington’s “enduring commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s unprovoked war”.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) this week, the war between Ukraine and Russia is having a major global impact. In 2021, the two countries provided 30% of the wheat and 63% of the corn on the world market. EFE
