New Editor-in-Chief appointed at epa European Pressphoto Agency b.v.

Frankfurt, Oct 2 (epa-efe).- The President and CEO of the European Pressphoto Agency (epa), Julia R. Arévalo, on Friday appointed journalist José Luis Paniagua to the post of Editor-in-Chief of epa, the global photography agency.

Paniagua, 46, will take over in mid-November, when he will join the Editorial Management team in Frankfurt.

epa, founded in 1985, is a global news photography agency, with nine European news agency shareholders, all market leaders in their respective countries. The majority shareholder is Agencia EFE in Spain.

Paniagua, fluent in Spanish, English and Italian, has worked uninterrupted for EFE for 20 years and has been a reporter in several Latin American countries, including Argentina and Cuba, until assuming the position of Chief Editor of the agency for Central America, based in Panama.

Since 2010, he has directed EFE’s offices in Venezuela, South Asia and the Middle East.

“Paniagua will provide epa with his invaluable experience as an international journalist and multimedia Team Manager which is necessary to lead the editorial direction, for the transformation of epa into an agency that provides essential visual and multimedia content”, said Arévalo.

Founded in 1985, epa is a global provider of news, sport and entertainment photography.

In addition to its nine shareholding news agencies, epa has a global network of photographers and videographers all contributing to a comprehensive daily feed of content, covering all the major news topics.

Since its conception, epa has been providing a core product of news photography to thousands of high profile media organizations around the world, whilst continuing to evolve and respond to the market demand for video and multimedia content. EPA-EFE
