Britney Spears announces she’s pregnant
Los Angeles, Apr 11 (EFE).- Pop star Britney Spears on Monday announced on her Instagram account that she is pregnant with her third child.
The singer made the announcement in a long post after commenting that she’d gained weight in recent days, a situation that spurred her to get a pregnancy test, which came back positive.
“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought … ‘What happened to my stomach ???’ My husband said ‘No you’re food pregnant silly … !!!’ So I got a pregnancy test ? and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby,” the singer of “Baby One More Time” said on Instagram.
Spears also said that she will be going out into public less to avoid being photographed by paparazzi and she confessed that during her two previous pregnancies she suffered from perinatal depression.
“I have to say it is absolutely horrible … women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it everyday. Thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret,” added the singer in her social network message.
Spears has two sons, ages 15 and 16, from her earlier marriage to Kevin Federline.
Followers of the artist’s social media postings wasted no time in deluging her with congratulations over the news.
The baby-on-board news is somewhat symbolic given that last year, when Spears begged the California judiciary to end her conservatorship, she complained that although she would like to have another baby, her guardian or conservator, at that time her father, was not letting her go to the doctor to have her intrauterine device (IUD) removed, although she said that she’d like to have another child.
Late in 2021, a court put an end to the mechanism whereby the singer’s father controlled the reins of her finances and personal life for almost 14 years, a very controversial legal situation that erupted into an international scandal thanks to the insistence of Spears’ fans around the world.
The artist, who has sold more than 100 million records, has now recovered her autonomy and soon will be able to make use of her assets of $60 million, a situation radically different from what she was restricted to only a few months ago, when she had to ask permission to leave her home or to spend even as little as one dollar.
On her immediate horizon, Spears emphasized her commitment to Sam Asghari, a dancer she got to know in 2016 during the filming of her “Slumber Party” music video, although she has been referring to him as her husband.
Asghari and Spears announced their engagement in September, and the couple has posted frequently about their commitment to one another on Instagram, the platform that had become the singer’s only means of contact with her fans.
