Nomadland and Rocks lead the pack with 7 BAFTA nominations apiece

London, Mar 9 (efe-epa).- Nomadland and Rocks lead the pack of nominees for the 2021 BAFTA Awards in a diverse list of talent announced on Tuesday by the British Academy, one year after the scandal surrounding the lack of black actors being recognized by the institution.

The Father, Mank, Minari and Promising Young Woman all scored six nods each, while The Dig and The Mauritanian earned five.

The Father, The Mauritanian, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman and The Trial Of The Chicago 7 will compete for Best Film

Four women are nominated in the best director category, including Chloe Zhao for Nomadland, a movie poised to take this year’s award season by storm.

Daniel Kaluuya, Riz Ahmed, Dominique Fishback, Tahar Rahim and Bukky Bakray are among the 16 nominees from ethnic minority backgrounds in the acting categories.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony without a live audience on April 11 from London’s Royal Albert Hall. EFE-EPA
