Kyiv, Apr 15 (EFE).- Russia has used long-range bombers to attack the beseiged port city of Mariupol for the first time since the invasion began, Ukrainian defense minister spokesman, Oleksandr Motuzianyk, said on Friday.

Motuzianyk also said heavy fighting continued in Mariupol and that Russian forces were not able to completely capture the city.

“The merger of two military formations in Mariupol is a brilliant tactical operation. The situation in Mariupol is difficult, and fighting continues,” the spokesman told reporters.

“The Russian army is constantly involving additional units to storm the city, and as of now, active battles are going on near the Illich plant and in the port zone of Mariupol. But the Russians are not able to completely capture this city,” he added. EFE
