Messi surpasses 100-goal mark with Argentina

Buenos Aires, Mar 29 (EFE).- Argentina captain Lionel Messi surpassed the 100-goal mark for his country with a hat trick during a friendly against Curaçao.

The Albiceleste strolled to a 7-0 win over the tiny Caribbean team at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades on Tuesday evening with Nicolás González, Enzo Fernández, Ángel Di María and Gonzalo Montiel also finding the back of the net.

Argentina boasted its brand new third star on the team kit in two friendlies that served as a welcome home tour for the 2022 World Cup winners, having secured victory over Panama last week.

On Tuesday, Messi opened the scoring in the 20th minute with his century goal for Argentina and joined an elite club on the international stage with Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Iran’s Ali Daeli.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward bagged two more for good measure before half time.
