Sports Desk, Sep 7 (EFE).- Erling Haaland feasted on a week Gibraltar side Tuesday, scoring three goals to power Norway to a 5-1 victory in the sixth round of European qualifiers for World Cup 2022.
Norway improved to 13 points, the same as Group G leaders the Netherlands, who have a better goal difference. Gibraltar remain without a point.
Kristian Thorstvedt opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of the contest at Oslo’s Ulleval stadium and Haaland stretched the lead to 2-0 four minutes later.
The Borussia Dortmund star got his second in the 39th minute, but Reece Styche clawed one back for the visitors in the 43rd on a night when Gibraltar had just 25 percent possession and only two shots on target.
Alexander Sorloth restored the three-goal margin just before the hour mark and Haaland completed the hat trick in stoppage time with his fifth goal in three games. EFE apa/dr
