BTS rapper Suga’s debut album to feature late Ryuichi Sakamoto

Seoul, Apr 10 (EFE).- Suga, one of the members of the popular K-pop boy band BTS, revealed Monday that he collaborated with the late Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto for one of the songs included in his debut solo album “D-Day”, which will be released on Apr. 21.

Suga and the Korean music company that represents him, Hybe, unveiled the track list of his upcoming album, which includes “Snooze”, featuring Sakamoto.

The world-renowned, multifaceted musician, died on Mar. 28, of cancer at the age of 71, leaving behind an extensive legacy in the field of electronic music and several memorable soundtracks for hit films such as “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence”, “The Last Emperor” and “The Sheltering Sky.”

“Teacher, I hope the long journey is peaceful,” South Korean boy band BTS member Suga wrote in an Instagram story hours after Sakamoto’s agency announced that he had passed away.

Suga also announced on Monday that he has collaborated with fellow BTS member J-Hope on the track “Huh?!” in “D-Day”, which also includes “People Pt. 2” featuring popular South Korean singer IU, and a reinterpretation of one of BTS’ most popular songs, “Life goes on.”

Suga, who has composed and produced the album’s 10 tracks, kicks off a world tour on Apr. 26 that will include several American and Asian cities.

Suga, 30, is the fourth BTS member to release a solo album, after J-Hope, RM and Jimin.

BTS announced a hiatus in October until at least 2025.

During this period, the seven members, RM, Jimin, Jin, V, Suga, J-Hope and Jungkook, will serve in the military – which in South Korea is compulsory for all able-bodied males for a minimum of 18 months – and focus on solo projects. EFE
