MEMPHIS, TN (MEMPHIS ANIMAL SERVICES RELEASE) — Memphis Animal Services announced today its goal of reaching 7,000 new beginnings for pets in 2018, as well as an $18 adoption promotion they hope will help them reach that goal.

Memphis Animal Services will offer all available pets for an adoption fee of just $18. The $18 adoption fee is a reduction from the regular fees which typically vary from $40-80. As always, included in the adoption fee is spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test for dogs (and treatment if needed), FIV/FeLV test for cats, collar/leash, and a customized ID tag.

So far in 2018, MAS has placed 6,541 pets in new homes through private adoptions and rescue transfers, maintaining an 88 percent overall save rate for the year. It would take at least 459 more adoptions or rescue transfers to reach the goal of 7,000 new beginnings for 2018. This promotion has become a holiday tradition at MAS, with the shelter running it in 2016 (goal: 5,500) and 2017 (goal: 6,000) and surpassing the goal each time. This year, they are going for a bigger jump with a goal of 7,000.
