Verstappen takes Japan pole, Ferraris follow

Sports Desk, Oct 8 (EFE).- Max Verstappen tightened his grip on the Formula One driver’s championship by securing pole at the Japanese Grand Prix on Saturday.

The Red Bull talisman will start at the top of the grid at the Suzuka circuit ahead of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the Ferraris.

Red Bull’s Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez will start from fourth.

Verstappen could clinch the championship at Sunday’s Grand Prix if he finishes eight points ahead of Leclerc and six ahead of Checo.

Alpine’s Esteban Ocon will start the Japanese Grand Prix in P5, followed by Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes, Alpine’s Fernando Alsono, and Mercedes’ George Russel.

Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel and McLaren’s Lando Norris complete the top 10. EFE
