Over 20 killed in Russian missile attack on apartment building in Ukraine

Lviv, Ukraine, Jan 15 (EFE).- At least 21 people were killed by a Russian missile attack that struck a multi-story residential building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, authorities reported Sunday.

Seventy-three people were injured, including 14 children, while 38 others were rescued from under the rubble of the partially-collapsed building following the strike on Saturday, Dnipropetrovsk regional council head Mykola Lukashuk wrote on Telegram.

The search for 35 missing people is ongoing.

Lukashuk said earlier that the strike on Saturday left a total of 72 apartments destroyed and over 230 damaged.

“About 3,450 tons of the structures destroyed and 39 cars damaged were removed from the scene,” he added.

The building was hit by a Kh-22 missile designed to be used against aircraft carriers.

Authorities in Dnipro declared three days of mourning for the victims of the Russian attack. EFE
