Gabriel Jesus leads Man.City to defeat Chelsea, Aston Villa stun United

Sports Desk, Sep 25 (EFE).- Gabriel Jesus on Saturday fired Manchester City to a 1-0 win against Chelsea, while Manchester United were handed a 1-0 home defeat by Aston Villa in Premier League action.

The Premier League defending champions earned their first win over the Blues in four games across all competitions, including last season’s Champions League final.

Manchester City dominated the first half, but they failed to capitalize on any of the chances they created as they had to wait to the second period to serve Chelsea their first Premier League defeat in the season.

It was in the eighth minute of the second half that City broke the deadlock on a shot by the Brazilian forward that deflected off midfielder Jorginho into his own goal.

After the win, City are now second with 13 points, tied with leader Liverpool – who will play later on against Brentford – Chelsea and Manchester United, third and fourth-placed respectively.

Aston Villa claimed their first Old Trafford win since 2009 thanks to a late goal on a header from English midfielder Kortney Hause with two minutes to spare.

United had a chance to draw level when they were awarded a penalty kick three minutes into the stoppage time, but Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes overshot from the 12-yard spot.  EFE
