Cause of Queen Elizabeth II’s death given as ‘old age’

London, Sep 29 (EFE).- Queen Elizabeth II died of “old age,” according to the official death certificate made public Thursday.

The document published by the National Records of Scotland revealed that Elizabeth died at the age of 96 at 3.10pm local time on September 8 at her Balmoral Estate in Scotland.

Her death after 70 years on the throne was publicly announced that day at 6.30pm.

Elizabeth, the longest-serving monarch in British history, was surrounded by members of the royal family, some of whom had traveled up to Scotland that day after it was revealed by Buckingham Palace that the queen had been placed under medical supervision.

Elizabeth had continued to perform duties until just days before her death, including a meeting with Liz Truss, the incoming prime minister.

Due to mobility issues, however, she did not travel down to Buckingham Palace for the ceremony as would previously have been tradition.

Elizabeth, who was succeeded by her son King Charles III, was buried on September 19 following a state funeral. EFE
