Palestinian killed after wounding five Israelis in West Bank

Jerusalem, Nov 15 (EFE).- Five Israelis were injured in a stabbing attack in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday by a Palestinian who was later shot and killed, medical services and local media reported.

Magen David Adom national emergency services said the attacker stabbed four people and ran over another near the Israeli settlement of Ariel, adding that the condition of two of the wounded as critical.

The Israeli military wrote on Twitter: “a terrorist arrived at the entrance gate of the Ariel Industrial Zone and stabbed civilians in the area. Other civilians were stabbed at a nearby gas station.”

“The terrorist fled the scene and was neutralized afterwards. IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) soldiers are currently searching the area,” it added.

The Palestinian health ministry later confirmed that the assailant had been killed, giving no further details about his identity.

Israeli troops called the attack “terrorist,” which they often use to describe incidents in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Tensions in the West Bank have been on the rise as Israeli forces conduct raids and arrest operations on a near-daily basis for over six months, following several deadly attacks against Israelis between March and April.

At least 145 Palestinians, including many civilians and children, have been killed in military operations, clashes or lone attacks so far this year, the deadliest since 2006.

Twenty-four Israelis, including 17 civilians, have died in the wave of violence.EFE
