Palestinian killed in Israeli military operation in West Bank

Jerusalem, Apr 13 (EFE).- A Palestinian man was killed during an Israeli military operation in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said on Wednesday, as tensions soared between Israel and Palestinian territories in recent days.

The man, 34, was shot in the chest in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, the ministry reported.

A dozen people were injured in the operation, 7 of them with gunshot wounds to the limbs, head and chest.

The shootings came as the Israeli army launched “anti-terrorist operations” in the cities of Nablus, Jenin and Tulkarem on Wednesday, as well as other towns in the West Bank, after a recent flare-up of violence in the region.

Tensions in the region have been extremely high after four fatal attacks by Palestinians left some 14 Israelis dead in just two weeks, prompting the Israeli army to tighten security in the West Bank.

Israeli forces killed four Palestinians in the West Bank between Sunday and Monday, following a shooting attack in Tel Aviv that left three people dead on Thursday.EFE

Israel has controlled Palestinian borders since the Six-Day War in 1967 when it occupied the territories of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza. EFE
