Palestinian teen killed by Israeli soldiers in West Bank

Jerusalem, Jun 2 (EFE).- A boy has been shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank, becoming the fourth Palestinian killed by Israeli fire in two days, the Palestinian health ministry said on Thursday.

The 17-year-old was shot in the chest in Midya village in Ramallah before he was transferred to the hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

“The doctors tried to save his life, but he ended up succumbing to a very serious injury,” the Palestinian ministry of health said in a statement.

The incident took place when Israeli soldiers opened fire on a group of young people playing in an area near the West Bank separation wall, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.

On Wednesday, a 31-year-old woman was killed after approaching an Israeli soldier while holding a knife.

Another Palestinian was shot and killed in a northern West Bank town overnight during clashes with Israeli troops while demolishing the house of a Palestinian who carried out a deadly attack in an Israeli town in March.

A young Palestinian man was also shot dead during clashes with the army in the city of Bethlehem earlier on the day.

A flare-up in violence in the region that started in late March has left almost 50 Palestinians killed amid Israeli arrest operations and clashes.

Among the dead are several minors and Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed three weeks ago while covering an Israeli raid in Jenin.EFE
