Palestinian teen killed in Israeli military raid in West bank

Jerusalem, Feb 14 (EFE).- A Palestinian teen was killed Tuesday during an Israeli arrest raid in the occupied West Bank, Palestinians officials said.

Mahmoud Majed, 17, died of gunshot wounds to the head in al-Faraa refugee camp in the northern part of the West Bank, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Official news agency Wafa said that Majed was pronounced dead in hospital.

The Israeli military confirmed the raid at the refugee camp, saying that clashes broke out with locals.

“A Palestinian suspect approached the soldiers with an explosive device. The soldiers responded with live fire,” an army spokesman, adding no injuries were reported among Israeli soldiers.

A total of 23 Palestinians were arrested and weapons were confiscated early Tuesday in Israel raids in several parts of the West Bank.

On Monday, another Palestinian was shot dead during a raid in the West Bank city of Nablus, while an Israeli policeman was stabbed to death at a military checkpoint in East Jerusalem, hours before an Israeli civilian was lightly wounded in an alleged stabbing incident by a 14-year-old Palestinian boy in Jerusalem.

The incidents come amid mounting violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

At least 48 Palestinians, several of them minors, have been killed following military operations, Palestinian-led attacks and clashes with Israeli troops so far this year, while 11 Israelis have died in 2023.EFE
