Penelope Cruz wins Spain’s top film award

Madrid, Jun 6 (EFE).- Actress Penelope Cruz on Monday was awarded Spain’s top cinema award for her “brilliant legacy” and contribution to Spanish cinematography.

The jury of the Spanish National Cinematography Award 2022 was unanimous in its vote to award Cruz, who they described as an “iconic actress whose brilliant legacy enriches Spain’s cultural heritage.”

“Committed to her craft, she seeks excellence in her work, allowing her to create some of the most unforgettable characters in the history of our cinema,” the jury said.

Cruz became the first Spanish actress to win an Oscar in 2009. She has since gone on to win three more Academy Awards.

The 45-year-old has also won three Spanish Goya Awards.

“Her enormous talent and versatility have opened doors for her to collaborate with filmmakers from all over the world while maintaining a strong link with Spanish cinema,” the jury added. EFE
