Japan prepares more than $198 billion stimulus package against inflation

Tokyo, Oct 27 (EFE).- The Japanese government has been preparing a new economic stimulus package of more than 29 trillion yen (over $198 billion) to alleviate the impact of rising inflation on households, especially energy.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida plans to announce this new budget at a press conference on Friday, according to state broadcaster NHK.

The stimulus package aims to cushion the impact of rising prices and the weakening yen, especially due to escalating energy prices for both households and businesses.

As part of these measures, the Japanese government plans to subsidize part of electricity consumption and also to lower the gas bill, according to NHK.

The package is also expected to include an aid for maternity and childcare of 100,000 yen to households with children aged two years and below. EFE
